Concepts Of Healing: Inorganic Stressors

In this case we will not talk about the weather or any other physical aspects of the environment. The topic in this case will be that of heavy metal poisoning and mineral imbalances/deficiencies. In Europe, it is common knowledge among the medical profession that 80% of the chronic diseases they see are caused by mercury poisoning from dental amalgam. Dental amalgam is a 50%/50% mixture of silver and mercury. The American Dental Association says that this is quite safe in people's mouths. Guess what? The ADA gets a cut of the price of every bit of dental amalgam that does go into people's mouths. The first dental amalgam that went into people's mouths was in Paris, France in 1832. The first recorded case of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) was in Paris, France in 1839. The reason medical/dental personages were called Quack's was not because they were inept but because they used mercury amalgam. Mercury is also known as quicksilver in America and some other parts of the world, but in Europe it was known as "Quacksalver". When the American Society of Dental Surgeons was formed its members were required to sign a pledge that they would not use mercury. Some dentists would not sign and carried on using "Quacksalver". These dentists were then known as "Quacks". The ones who did not sign then went on to form the ADA. So really, mercury-free dentists, who are always being called quacks in this day and age, are not quacks. The true quacks are any members of the ADA.

The ADA has already hardened its position in recognizing no potential hazard from mercury dental fillings. It has even gone so far as to remove dental licenses from practitioners who have spoken against the use of mercury in dentistry. Dr. Huggins, a dentist now working in Acapulco, Mexico because of his crusade to help people to rid themselves of their heavy metal poisoning, himself had MS. As soon as he removed his dental amalgam, his symptoms abated and eventually disappeared. The ADA had his license revoked to practice his profession. Thus, he moved his clinic to Mexico. You may find all manner of material about this matter online on the world-wide-web. Just go to any of the search engines and search for: dental amalgam mercury poisoning. The British Dental Association now accepts that mercury vapor is released into the body from amalgam fillings. It has been estimated that 3% of the population may be hypersensitive and suffer adverse reactions. The British Journal of Industrial Medicine reports that dentists have higher concentrations of mercury in the body and double the number of brain tumors than the general population. Female dentists and assistants are 3.5 times more likely to suffer sterility, stillbirth and miscarriage. A recent study in Finland showed that a population of people with mercury dental fillings had 17 times more mercury in their feces than a control population of people who had never had this type of filling. The people with dental fillings had 11 times more mercury in their feces than did a population of people who had their amalgams removed. The average mercury content of dried feces from the group with mercury dental fillings was more than 1 ppm. The first standard deviation included concentrations up to 4 ppm. Another case of heavy metal poisoning was in the tanning of Beaver hides with mercury compounds in England in the early to middle 19th century. The origin of the expression "Mad as a Hatter" is due to severe mental degeneration by tanners/hatters because of heavy metal poisoning. More recently, the Minemata Disease of Japan is another case of mercury poisoning originating from an industrial plant upstream from the town of Minemata, Japan. Waste containing mercuric chloride (a catalyst in the production of plastics) was released into the bays of Minemata and Niigata, Japan in 1953 and 1960. The metal worked its way into the food chain and caused acute toxicity in those who ate fish caught in that region. Although only 52 people died as a result of the immediate exposure, hundreds of adults and their children have since developed degenerative neurological disorders characteristic of acute mercury poisoning. An extraordinarily high cerebral palsy rate, 6% of births, exits in the area now also.

Lead in paint and from automobile exhaust is now abating. New soybean inks have reduced the spread of cadmium in newsprint. Hexavalent chromium is still in use but supposedly being better managed. Mercury for use as a seed preservative is no longer in use. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has reported that mercury contamination in the ecosystem is pervasive worldwide. In fact, it turns up in very unexpected places. A sperm whale found dead off the Danish coast in January 1996 contained so much mercury and cadmium that its intestine had to be buried at a special hazardous waste site! This in an age when the government is supposed to be taking care of us.

How do I remove the dental fillings? It is an arduous task fraught with peril. Go to a dentist whom has had the proper training from Dr. Huggins. Look for a dentist that practices "Biological Dentistry". Then eat as much Cilantro/Chinese Parsley as possible. It removes heavy metals from the body. There are many methods being used to remove (detoxify) heavy metals from the body including chelation therapy, drinking distilled water, taking Chinese herbs, Chlorella, glutathione, Ginkgo biloba and seaweed.

Most chronic disease is not the failure of the immune system, but an adaptation of the immune system to an otherwise lethal heavy metal environment. Recent science shows that at least 14% of the human population develops T-cell immune response specific to mercury compounds and ions. A sustained systemic immune response to toxic metal ions that goes on for years is the result. Detoxification means the body's own chemical and transport processes that clear tissues of contaminants. The chemical processes metabolize the toxic chemical into a form that is more readily excreted. Many of these processes are enzymatic. The enzymes often require cofactors that are derived from essential nutrients obtained from botanicals. This is why one should eat vegetables high in vitamin C content, anti-oxidants and cofactors. Much propaganda is being offered in the media about the need for calcium. The only problem is that the people wanting to influence your buying of their product do not know that they are directing you to grossly unbalance your calcium to magnesium ratio. There is enough calcium in the normal foods that you eat such that you do NOT need to consume extra calcium by itself. As people get older they tend to slow down and calcium begins to salt out in the tissues, the EM and on the surfaces of bone. As a result, flexibility is lost and joints seize up due to deposits on the articular surfaces. The problem is not the need for more calcium in the diet but more exercise and hormone therapy replacement to prevent osteoporosis. However, your need for magnesium is just a great as your need for calcium. Lack of magnesium in the diet with an overabundance of calcium is responsible for the production of gallstones and kidney stones. If you will manage your magnesium intake to sufficient levels, your stones will dissolve and never again form. This is something your doctor and the food industry are either ignorant about or do not want you to know. Sprinkle Epsom salts or Nigiri on your foods instead of using iodized salt. Nigiri is sea salt with a higher concentration of magnesium due to the manner of production and a traditional Japanese staple. Magnesium in high dose is a laxative so it is best to be careful with how much you consume at any one time. Certain foods are rich in magnesium, like nuts. Discover those that are right for your body and eat more of them to supplement your diet, consult the two aforementioned books.

Alkalizing with Calcium and Magnesium

A recommended way of obtaining more calcium and magnesium and at the same time alkalise the body is by neutralising dolomite with organic acids. You may buy dolomite as a plant fertiliser at a nursery and in the evening mix half to one teaspoonful with the juice of a lemon or grapefruit or with about 50 ml of vinegar. Keep this overnight, possibly refrigerated and drink before breakfast, best diluted with water or other liquid. When this is metabolised, the organic acid tends to be broken down and converted to energy while the mineral remains to alkalise the body. This is much more acceptable for sensitive individuals then using unneutralised fruit acids which tend to accumulate and make the body overacid. When using 50 ml of 5% vinegar this supplies approximately 500 mg of calcium and 300 mg of magnesium. You may also mix a larger amount of acid and dolomite. Keep refrigerated and add more acid or dolomite as needed. In regard to vinegar, it would be best to use organic cider vinegar but this is also ten times more expensive than bulk white vinegar, while normal cider vinegar may contain pesticides. Therefore, if you have limited financial resources then white vinegar is adequate to use for this purpose.

This same procedure may also be used by sensitive individuals to neutralise acid oranges or tomatoes or any other acid fruits. Either mix just the juice or alternatively the pureed fruit with dolomite. Dolomite supplies calcium and magnesium in the generally desirable ratio of 2 : 1. However, if only additional calcium without magnesium is required, then you may use powdered egg shell or powdered shell grit or commercial calcium carbonate for neutralising. This applies especially to individuals who experience cramping when taking any additional magnesium. 50 ml of neutralised vinegar will carry about 800 mg of calcium into the body.

If we would simply take calcium carbonate or dolomite instead of neutralising vinegar or fruit acids, we would have to use up our precious supply of gastric acid to neutralise and dissolve the carbonates. Many individuals have mineral deficiencies precisely because of a lack of gastric acid. If, on the other hand, we use an inorganic mineral supplement, such as calcium or magnesium chloride, then we can absorb the calcium or magnesium but it will not contribute to reduce any over-acid condition of the body.
